Don't forget snowyakers! Long before I was skiing in the backcountry, I was making turns on snow in my playboat/kayak....

and don't forget body surfing! That's a blast and you can make turns (and forward rolls); oh, and let's not forget snowboarding... ;)

I've actually see people do telemark turns while doing standing glissades (instead of the usual parallel skiing). ::) ;D

I posted a picture of telemark glissade in this post earlier in this thread.

Yes, digging the toe in does create a turn in that direction fairly effectively.

I'm gonna be a frickin' nut until I get to try out my new powder skis, so you might as well shut off your computer until the white stuff falls. :)

How about this to entertain until the good stuff gets here...  Fire skiing!

Took the 5+ mile High Skyline Trail yesterday; met a skier (he skis both tele and AT) coming down Muir--he said very good corn snow conditions. I was surprised to find 2/3 the back bowl snow-covered (just an inch) and the front of Mazama as well, with 2-6 inches in the trail. (As vogtski noted, the rocks lining the trail trap blowing snow). Why was I surprised? It was 65 F when I left the parking lot and went I got to the top of high skyline I knew I should have been wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
