Interesting; so many people seeing strife in this thread where I have seen so little, and then asking the posters to stop and go somewhere else (instead of stop reading the thread)! I suggest reviewing posting guidelines.
I've been on TAY since its inception, this is the first suggestion I've seen that PNW backcountry tele-skiers should go elsewhere to talk of their sport (like to telemarktips.com)!
Why is that? I appreciate and indulge in all 3 major forms of bc skiing--XC, tele, and AT. I wouldn't think of telling AT skiers to go to www.wildsnow.com or www.backcountry.com ...

Amen to that. I would also add and say all backcountry intertubers and tobogganers should post here as well - as long as you can make turns with your sled.

Don't forget snowyakers! Long before I was skiing in the backcountry, I was making turns on snow in my playboat/kayak....

Oh yeah, I snowshoe too, and hike (but I really try to avoid ski tracks and postholing, I know some snowboarders love to posthole in ski tracks) but I'm not into standing glissades (or seated glissades for that matter).
