Thanks for sharing RonJ's secret stash rules again. Those are really great. I've probably broken them too. Stashworthy--now there's a word...

1) A secret stash is a secret stash, no TR's or coy descriptions of the day. Nada.zip.

While I agree with "A secret stash is a Secret Stash." I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE WITH THE SECOND PART !
Heres why , A stash might not be the only place one skis on a given day. So omitting from a trip report a side visit to a stash is permissible. Access on roads and conditions are always appreciated.
What is not appreciated are the "COY" or "we skied something so good and we ain't telling" reports

And for more discussions sake I heard "The biggest Secret Stash of all is in Scotland"

Different!?? You call that different?
Why that's exactly what Scotty's been doing here all along!!
We should give him a new screen name:
"SCOTTY PYTHON"

I agree, there's no difference.  I only used the preface due to its connection with Monty Python.  If you want an argument you'll have to change the subject. :)

Why do you fail to note that TRs can be valuable as entertainment and inspiration without any precise location? I like to read clever descriptions and see quality photography; I don't need someone to help me with when and where to ski. I post and browse TRs purely for entertainment. The BETA aspect is only incidental for me. It happens, but it was never the goal.

We like to think that we post TR's to record the event, or share information for others and those are part of the reason but in many cases I think we also crave recognition of how bad-ass we are and want to get the warm glow of kudos from the web collective by posting a good TR that was in a remote area, or very steep, or had great snow or involved incredible feats of endurance or aerobic capacity. We are all guilty of this if we are honest and that's not a problem as it's what makes us human. The problem arises when you want to post a TR about such a trip and not give the location.

IMHO, the TR's that involve a description of a great trip but then coyly refuse to disclose the location suffer from being pure grandstanding and ego driven as they don't have the redeeming feature of at least sharing where this marvellous trip occurred so others can consider going.
