This was hashed out in a LONG thread you can still find elsewhere on the site that at least got us up to the current policy. While I advocated for more there as well, I respect Charles' thoughtful decision-making on site policy.
Edited to add: I appreciate Lee's reports as well - a few have been particularly entertaining in that "won't be doing that any time soon, but fun to read about someone else doing it..." sort of way. I also appreciate his honesty in admitting that he has some stashes he won't be reporting on any time soon.

As many folks have moved away from dial up interweb connections, many have also moved to mobile devices that can access TRs. I know I appreciate the photo limit in that I can load TRs in a reasonable amount of time. NWAC is up in a snap b/c it is simple text. pic links give us the option to see what we want.

I strongly agree with this sentiment. I ditched my laptop a couple of years ago and get most of my interweb from an ancient blackberry. (I get more than enough computer time at work...)
In fact, there are some forums that have a mobile mode, and it would be awesome if that was available here. Some of the more popular Blackberry forums have this feature, but I stopped looking at them once I got mine working enough to see NWAC telemetry and TAY from the car.
I would be happy to help test this for Charles, but unfortunately I don't know if it is available for this flavor of forum software.

I agree with Monika. And for the same reasons. I am looking for information. No one wants to spend several hours plodding into a location to find it all skied out, or find poor or dangerous ski conditions. I really don’t care how your dog did, or what you had for dinner. Where, approximately, did you go? What has been skied? What was the access like? What were the snow conditions? These are the same questions that you and your friends ask when planning a ski trip. This is the information that should be posted in “Trip Reports”
It seems like there are many posters who appear to be budding authors and semi pro motion picture directors. It is fine and fun to share your experience on this site, but I would suggest that these experiences be placed on a new, separate link entitled something like “My Fun Day” or “Essays from the Backcountry” Save the “Trip Reports” for specific information.

IMHO this site can be a bit boring, a bit old fashioned and preachy at times. It is also informative, has a community feel to it and can be inspirational and exciting.
TGR can be crude, boorish and immature. It too is informative, more global than TAY and vibrant.
I like both and I like the difference and would strongly disagree that good information cannot be found on TGR. I copied two recent articles about avy science and did a lot of research regarding my trip to Las Lenas on TGR.
The issue Powderherb brought up was a good one I think, as although the issue has been discussed and decisions made recently regarding the picture limit, I think this site is feeling "the winds of change."
Is it just me or do you feel that there are a lot more younger voices joining both the website and the BC? I think there is and I think it's great, but the younger people have a different sense regarding communications and visual is their bag!
I see it in my son who was completely excited about JW and JEN's video and photo skills up here in Shames. TAY needs to evolve along with it's members, not radically but adapt to some of the younger voices or else the younger members will leave. I think a more liberal policy on photos( maybe increase to 5 or 6) would be a good move.
That my 2 cents.
