This site is useless without pics.

Oh Geez...now I'm totally conflicted. More pics? Better writing? I probably won't be able to post for awhile till can sort this out. I'm feeling all verclempt.

First of all, for the record, I didn't say this site was completely useless at all, in fact, it is the contrary. I really like it, or I wouldn't be wasting my time here. And, less NWAC forecasts are borderline useless.

I simply don't understand the "fear" of the TGR scene and all that and how that is connected with photos. I just want a jpeg of some conditions of a route you skied in August. What is with this status-quo of not posting pictures is what I am asking.?

Frankly, if you don't like pictures, that's fine. Don't look at them... If you still have a 56k modem, well... we could argue the problem has started a long time ago. I'm just saying this place offfers a weath of info, be it concise, historical, whatever...let's make it graphical, just tag a photo from your server if costs are concerned!

Just because someone posts pics doesn't debunk the mystical-spirituality-isolationist essence of your tour. This is the 21st century, we all have cameras, we all take photos.

I don't think looking at photos of someone getting gnarley will make me any less of a man if I don't have the skills to ski that line... contrary it will inspire me. If you can't handle some inspiration, why are looking here to begin with? I don't think it will turn this into a rat race, nor do I think it will ruin anyones high. There is no competition here. I just want some eye candy!


There was no clouds, we hiked for a few hours to get a look at some of the climbing routes on the southern face of the Mount blanc massif. They looked to be in good condition. Some recent snowfall in the area, bomber spring conditions existed...

Just saying. I mean, it's your title, even if it was just trolling. We're starting to get some good hyperbole going on here... I'm going to continue exploring the mystic-spirituality-essence of my desk.

Better yet Rusty, you should go skiing that usually helps me sort things out but while you are out take some good photos and come back and write a book.  Get too it

One thing I will say about the images I have seen so far, they are not usual "look-at-me" fare... They seem to have been composed to put things in context of the larger picture.
One could argue that this is in alignment with the groove here on TAY. The last image really puts it in perspective for me. Why you don't have your own blog going (or maybe you do), I'm not sure.

Well Powherb, I think the TGR trip report you linked to also had pictures of cars and girls and who knows what else. I think that is what people associate with TGR rather than just a graphical representation.

But there does seem to be a trend toward less pics and even secrecy on location around here that is probably less mystical and more related to not wanting to fight for parking and share a slope with hordes of people. The nice pictures of our favorite lines usually invite groups of people to show up the next day use the skintrack and then its popularity grows exponentially with new readers of the site, word of mouth, people bringing their friends to a new place that someone else brought them. I don't know if it's good or bad but it is a factor.
