This is the price we pay for the third most precipitation ever in February?  I'm ok with that, I'd rather have more snow this month than Niseko got, versus nice clear roads like we had in December 2013 with no ski lifts running at Snoqualmie Pass.  I ask Mother Nature for more snow please, even if it means a few slower returns to the city.  Heck, SoCal has horrible traffic even when the sky is clear and pavement is dry.  I love the Pacific NW, thanks, tho I confess its far left lane self appointed speed governing drivers irritate me sometimes.  :) Boston drivers rock!

Just had to quote that, as I agree with the Director of Fun on all fronts! (while admitting that there are also ways in which my fellow Boston-bred drivers can get on my nerves, but using WA's favorite illegal camping spot - the left lane - is not one of them; I think you'd be run off the road for that in MA)

Amen, brotha. No complaints whatsoever about these conditions despite the issues our fellow less-prepare citizens may inflict upon us :), and it is an avoidable problem with a little planning which I will better attend to next time.

I can't control the snow. I can't control the traffic volume. I'll admit that I occasionally control the speed in the far left lane to and from the pass as part of my survival strategy. If some want to risk a wreck I want them behind me or able to pass me where I can get to the far right lane. Yesterday eastbound I felt safe at the 35 for the first 5 miles. The few passing me at 45 got to where they were going a whopping 30 second sooner. Same mindset as those that duck the ropes at Alpental for first tracks.

It's a Maroon Outback with a Thule. Honk if you are ever behind me in the right lane to or from the pass. I would love to run into you someday.

FYI per RCW 46.61.100 this is illegal when the flow of traffic is impeded by this move. Which is why the signs say "keep right except to pass"...

(4) It is a traffic infraction to drive continuously in the left lane of a multilane roadway when it impedes the flow of other traffic.

We are above average, but nowhere near 3rd most ever for snowfall in Feb. (From my count we are somewhere around 10th or 11th so far). What boggles my mind is the fact that we can get 5" of snow and the highway will get shut down due to spin outs? It is always at the same place, the corner as you reach exit 52 and the WSDOT/WSP can't seem to manage the 5 mile stretch of highway that causes 80% of our shut downs....uggg The WSDOT should have multiple graders doing laps on the section of highway from 47 to 54 but I rarely ever see them when it is snowing hard.????
