Drool, you should move up to the pass, then you could be skiing your own private ski area right now, like all the locals are right now
I agree with Charlie, snow removal is no easy task, especially east of the summit, most people who don't deal with snow on a daily basis have no understanding or appreciation of the amount of work that goes into keeping the pass open. Believe me, I have had many frustrating days trying to get home to the pass and being stuck. But, there is no way to separate out the local ski traffic and normal thru traffic/commerce.
Also know there is a huge amount of pressure on the DOT to get the pass open, it has been estimated that $750,000 is lost every hour the pass is closed.
I appreciate the WSDOT, they do a good job, that's my personal experience after living at the pass for 10 years.

WSDOT gets my total respect. They saved my bacon 10 yrs ago.
Not to mention what they do in the summer helping people out and keeping the roads clear of junk.
