Sorry for the commercial digression but I've got a brand new BD Vector for sale if anyone's interested.

My Giro helmet is advertised at 15.5 oz, but actually weighs in at ~18 oz. Interestingly, the small, medium and large's are all advertised at 15.5 oz...

the smith maze is advertized as 11.5 oz and is a full on ski helmet. I have it at home and will try to remember to weight it for actual weight. venhilation looks lousy but should work to store it in the pack until the down.

Just following up, the Maze weighed in at 13oz on my postal digital scale and my BD Tracer is 9oz on the same scale.

Without knowing the details on the Giro helmet or their shell sizing I would guess that the large is actually the lightest. I expect them all to have the same size shell and varying thicknesses in the EPS to make up the difference in sizing with fine tuning in the soft pads. That would leave the least material in the large and the most material in the small.

Jason, I hadn't thought about it that way before. I'll have to take a look at the different sizes next time I'm at the store. If that is the case, then the given weight is pretty inaccurate since the large is 16% high. Maybe they take the liner/ear flaps off for weighing.
