It had great sound design, and it was fun to see Dennis Hopper worshipping "Captain Joe" and thus realizing the ship was the Exxon Valdez. I think Deacon and the smokers would have been snowboarders if not for the lack of accessible hills and snow, though surely with sled-assist...


I thought calling the bad guys " smokers" and having them smoking cigs was stereotyping at it's worst and very ,very silly and spoiled the movie for me although I always did have a crush on Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Speaking of culture wars and self esteem issues  ;). Hardly the worst of the movie's sins, IMO, but I still enjoyed it despite the many flaws. But, then, I didn't even notice the bit about the cigarettes, and assumed they were "smokers" due to all that 2-stroke smoke they spewed.
