That's a good idea to ask for a backup. I swap out dynafits and dukes with quiver killers depending on the menu for the day. But the combination of being a big guy (220) and never exactly nice to them, i'm not surprised the bindings broke. I've broken some comforts before, and switched to dukes, but had hoped dynafit improved the integrity of the radicals enough to switch back. They are advertised as 'free ride' bindings after all...

The broken bits on the heel piece don't effect downhill ski mode -- only the hieght of heel riser while in touring mode.

I tend to I think the main limitation of dynafit bindings for "hard charging" isn't "strength and durability", but rather "dynamic range" -- so if you are doing a lot of jumps and skiing very fast (50+mph) Dukes or "MFD alltime" + DIN 16 alpine bindings might be more suitable.

My Radicals broke in the exact same way this weekend and one of my ski buddies had the same failure a few weeks ago. He had it replaced and the heel piece on the other ski fell apart this weekend (a diffferent failure that does not allow you to fix your heel for the downhill). He did two laps with a strap holding his heel in place. I dropped my skies off at Marmot on the way home and they indicated that dynafit knows about both issues and will replace both heel pieces for free with this year's model that is supposed to fix both issues.

I'm happy with the service by Dynafit and Marmot but I'm dissappointed with the durability of the new model. You would think an obvious issue like this would have been caught during testing. I like these bindings and I hope the fixes for this year's model are more reliable.

I would like to know more about this failure and what if anything to inspect for problems before failure. Thanks

The more I hear about the new radicals, the more I like my old comforts.

I'll ask when I go back into Marmot.
