Hey Christoph,

Thanks for the video of your shop. If I were in in Portland, I'd certainly stop by.

Also, I appreciate this thread and wish I had enough space for a bench of my own since I've had bad shop tunes in the past (none mentioned in this thread) that have ruined lift served ski days. For backcounty, I'm really not that particular about tuning, since for me the powder and corn are pretty forgiving. Acutally, I don't think I've ever tuned my bc skis. Wax can be helpful though and I generally carry a chunk around for those runs when the snow is sticky. At one point I was expermenting with Rain-X as a spray on wax. It worked well, but not for very long. It also smells pretty toxic, so I've discontinued that dirtbag practice for the time being. I think some people spray it on their top-sheets to keep snow from sticking to them (for lighter uphills).

The best alpine tune I ever had was about ten years ago made by the older gentleman with the pony tail at Pilchuck Ski and Sport in Everett (now closed). Since then our neighborhood mega co-op has been reliable.

Does anyone have a bench suitable for apartment or small house dwellers?

next adventure is the on3p demo center for 12/13, as well as one of their only dealers.
