S7 binding position

IMHO, there are 2 approaches: (1) what me worry?--mount at 0; (2) fanatic--consider the following:

Ski characteristics: construction--S7 long, wide, floppy shovels (rocker in the front, strong camber underfoot) and skinnier tails so the tails sink and the shovels rise in soft snow  and length (if you buy shorter or longer than Rossi's recommended length for your weight you may want a little forward).

Snow characteristics: soft snow vs crud vs a full mixture--from hardpack to deep powder.  Performance on firm snow, I think, benefits from being dead centered on the relatively short cambered section; crud, maybe a little forward; powder at 0, unless you bought short.  IMHE, differences in snow are best handles by differences in skiing technique, assuming you are using the S7 for what is was designed for--short to medium turns in deep snow.

Skier characteristics: skier weight (determines how easily camber is compressed and shovels bent), height (leg length determines where center of gravity rests) skier style (how much pressure is put on tongues, back seat skier, centered skier, aggressiveness--all interact with weight and height).  And of course, tendency to do jumps, ski switch, etc. which I have no intentional knowledge of  (ended up airborne a couple of time last year on S7s and backwards once).

Obviously all 3 categories are interactive, therefore you need references from somebody of your weight, height, style, the snow you hope to ski, and the length you bought.  The epic ski link provides some of that.

My 188 cm S7s are soooo easy to ski in soft snow, with a little effort they will do a smeary carve on firm snow; but I'm 230 lbs and my firm & crud snow ski is a 191 cm Volkl Mantra (no rocker or early rise, heavy, damp, stiff).

All this b.s. is why Marker came out with the Schizos LOL

Ignore him( Big Steve)....he's just upset because you're not asking about vapor barrier socks. ;)

I skied S7's extensively for two seasons before getting something lighter but still a similar shape( DPS 112RP). I mounted on the line but if I was to do again I'd mount at +1. The ski is designed to be rode as a slarvvy ski so +1 or +2 helps that loose feeling IMHO.

Loved that ski...damn heavy though!

Dynafit on S7 is a bit like putting a graphite rear spoiler on a sherman tank.
