HAHA, yes. public shaming is a definitely a TGR thing , perhaps TAYers aren't quite so different or superior/positive?Following the fine examples set elsewhere on the webz..
[fmicon]
See the recent thread about the ski patrol firing in Canada on TGR where facebook and google was used to link the miscreants name to very dispariging comments that may have been deserved.
Of course I've done my share of public shaming as well so it may be me you are referring to, or it could be the public shaming currently I'm currently going through( which as you know I'm enjoying because I'm perverse) as have many others on this site( but more civily I'm sure and less bluntly... which makes it better of course at least easier to swallow in a passive /aggressive way)
The rules are constantly evolving and one has to keep abreast of it.

I have no problems with an occasional good public stoning.
This TAY Taliban sounds fun! How do I sign up?
You already have! Membership of TAY automatically entitles you to judge others..... duh... winning!

That's a great question.so hypothetically...what if the guy had said he didn't want to pay for a rescue during his initial phone conversation with patrol? would they have still gone or at that point is the rescue forwarded on to the county sheriff where it would be a 'no cost' rescue organized through SAR and the sheriff?
Edit to add. Kim's response via facebook.
“clarify a few points about my post--Marcus went under the boundary rope off the back traverse to Lucky Shot, then traversed into Kempers Monday afternoon. At 4pm, he called on his cell phone for help.... He wasn't injured, but only lost and unsure how to get back to the resort. Nor was he out there for that long. Two patrollers followed his tracks (with trepidation, I might add since the man was located in a very dangerous slide path). The patrollers brought skins, which they duct taped to Marcus' skis. Then they all skinned out to the top. The whole thing didn't take too long. Fortunately for him, his cell phone worked, the patrol was able to find him and the incident ended well. The problem arose back at the patrol room, when he backed away from his earlier agreement to pay the after-hour wages of the patrollers. It wasn't even that large of a bill. At Crystal we do have a duty to act when anyone calls for help. Even when a person is outside the ski area, we want to be the first to respond (rather than an outside source) because this is our backyard, and we are well-equipped and ready to help. We want to help these people. That's our job, and we love to do it.”

Did he call ski patrol with the knowledge of the fine? Gotta ask him.

Perhaps you should get his side of the story to ensure the facts are correct before you publicly shame him?
Have to agree with this one. Even if he is guilty as charged, having all of TAY and others denounce him seems a little harsh. Punishment should be pursued by the plaintiff (Crystal) and perhaps a fine as well as rescue costs since he may have tried to dodge his obligation. I also wonder what his age is. When I was 17 or 18, my stupid factor was even higher than it is now. No point turning against a fellow skier because he blundered. Hopefully he is aware of the danger he created for himself and others.
