Missing Skier Crystal Today 3/1/11

Just sending this message to friends and family of Paul ~ you are not forgotten. My prayers have been with you since I heard of the situation last Tuesday. I will keep you all in prayer till he's found.

I skied that same day and am haunted to know Paul and I likely enjoyed the epic powder and sheer joy it provided, but in my case, I came home safe. I don’t know Paul personally but have been deeply affected by the outpouring of support from his friends and family.

A special thanks to all that helped in the search for Melby. I always liked Paul. He was a character, funny and goofy and a darn good skier for a fellow tall guy. I remember riding up the chair with him telling me stories of his new diving job(s). Ironically my girlfriend works with Paul's Mother, something I never knew till last week.
I read in the Crystal Patrol Blog that the searching would not be as active until another foot of snow melts back. Now I selfishly know that's the opposite of what we skiers really want. Somehow I think that Paul would agree and when the mountain is ready she will give back our friend in due time. Until then, my heartfelt condolences go out to Paul's family and close friends.
