So sorry to hear this -- good luck to all the searchers out working the hill and here's hoping he's just tucked in somewhere waiting to be found.

Another call out for tips would be helpful. Even if they seem inconsequential contact Crystal Patrol.
Best last tip we have is 1:45pm skiing down 6. He was wearing a brown arcteryx jacket that may have chew stains on the front of it. He is tall and gangly looking. About 6'6" I would guess, maybe 165-170lbs, brown hair. Super friendly nice guy and kinda a goofy smile.

There was a fantastic showing of volunteers as 261skier mentioned. We covered a lot of ground today, but may have to revisit the last seen areas again. Some of the tree wells that I dug into were as deep as my 10ft probe. The tree boughs are just like a trap door sitting on top of the snow. They can look benign from the surface, but toss you in deep so beware out there.

Thanks for the positive vibes, we need everything we can get, it's a tough find right now with all the new snow and more maybe on the way. With the tremendous support, I know he will be found, just the sooner the better.

I know how hard you worked today Joe. Amazing effort..... wish I could be with you.
Any idea what skis he had on.... I tend to always look at a skier's skis and it may jog some memories?
What is the protocol for joining the search... do you go to Patrol and ask to join in or what?

Edit to add: We were skiing chair 6 around 1:15 PM I think and were hoping to head out to SB.
At the top of 6 we were told SB was closed by a patroller. We traversed out to Throne gate and it was open which confused us as usually when SB is closed, that gate is closed as well( although not always). We were tempted to climb through that open gate to get to upper throne runs. We all thought it strange that gate was open.??? could he have gone up there given that that gate was open but the SB was closed?
The sign was also up banning traversing into AB from the Hamburger traverse. I know I was tempted to ignore the sign and traverse into AB.....was he the type that could have done that??? Not implying he would just making observation about what went through my mind in the hope it might help.

I'm not sure what Crystal patrol's preference is as far as stoppers-by, but I just politely, and humbly, stopped into the base shack, and offered my help.
It seems expert skiing ability, and an ability to listen and follow directions are prerequisites. Vast knowledge of the local stashes and their names (seems Paul knows all the stashes), are nice too.  Safety gear, of course.

Me and buds broke trail to near the top of the throne tuesday (gate open) under the aproval of patrollers who said they were gonna ski cut it, but since we were in front of them on the boot pack, they said "go ahead and ski it.  Be careful".
But not much trap hazard there (Campbell basin under throne), and I'd assume other gates would need to be open to get beyond, right?
I spoke to some who had searched below Campbell traverse, and saw a few chairs load on six in the morning assuming they were part of the effort.
