I admit that I had a Pom-Pom event with my pom yesterday, one of my powder 8 hats pom is on a string and I was wondering, should I tuck it under my goggles before skiing this potential avy slope or should I let it fly free like a powder cord so they can find me if I get buried.
I opted to let it fly free.

Now I need some help, should I shovel the snow off the deck before getting in the hot tub or just let it sit.

You don't know a tassel from a pompom. Those are Tassels on your powder 8 hat not pompoms. We're talking pompoms in this thread. If you want to talk about tassels then start your own thread and don't highjack mine...... jeez ::)

One Powder 8 hat has a pom on a string while the other has just a pom on the hat. I know it's easy to confuse since I have so many of them. So a pom on a string is a tassel?

Basically yes.... but it's a bit more complicated than that. A pompom is spherical and must be attached directly to the beanie no strings attached. A pompom becomes a tassel if it is attached to the beanie by a string even if its spherical but a "true tassel "can never be a pompom even if it is attached directly to the beanie.
A "true tassel" is not spherical but formed by fibers being folded over in only one plane( y axis) and secured by a string around the apex of the fibers.
Tassels are more appropriate for XC skiing and mandatory when using Karhu Guide Waxless Skis.
Pompoms size is also strongly reglated.
Less than 105mm skis and pompom size must not exceed 2" diameter.
If using superfat skis with rocker pompom size has no limits.
I can be your pompom mentor but it starts by admitting you need help Joe.

I have a 2" pom on a 3 inch string powder 8 hat, I own a pair of Karhu Guide Waxless so use that of that disipline.

And the 2" pom on the other Powder 8 hat attached used for the Stokes.

What do I do with the Dirt Bag King hat with a 3" pom? I have used them with the Stokes and they quite like the 3" pom.

I believe you are borrowing from my earlier assertion that the scarf, (in conjunction with patee for lunch), is the defining accouterment for the would be xc skiier. whether on Guides or otherwise.  I accept that binding choice may be a modifier to that observation, so perhaps, tassel choice over poms is a fair critique of the situation.

But you're right, it begins with acknowledging that one is powerless over ones faults
