Quote"Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead." End quote.

Keith.

I know you didn't specifiy that there was snow on the road, but I think using cruise control in slippery conditions is dangerous.  (I'm assuming "intermediate" is some lower gear?)

A week ago tomorrow I pulled out of the Crystal lot, put it in intermediate, set the speed control to 35 and headed down. At 410 I put it in drive and set the speed control for 57.

About halfway down the boulevard a gray SUV caught up and rode my tail down to the base. On 410 he did the same. Finally he got his opportunity and passed me. Imagine my sense of schadenfreude when 5 minutes later I saw him getting a ticket from the WSP. Bet I beat him home and had a far cheaper ski day!

I choose to drive the speed limit. I am not trying to police anybody else. Just the opposite. I'm not into the police policing me. But I do have a right to drive on the road at the speed limit and no amount of bullying or displays of impatience by skiers behind me is going to change that. Nor do I wish to pull over and then reenter the highway (a potentially dangerous move) only to meet up with the same people down the road. Almost every time I go to Crystal I deal with this. I have seen people doing crazy and very dangerous things on 410.

Aaron said, "Sometimes drivers think they have the right to speed and that anyone who is obeying the limit is obstructing their progress." Totally agree.

There are 11 different posters in this thread who all presumably think they are excellent drivers, that their driving habits are correct and others wrong and believe they know best.
This is statistically impossible.
If an independent party was hired to assess the driving skills and driving IQ( not necessarily the same thing) and plotted the results on a bell curve some of you would be to the left and some of you would be to the right and some in the middle.

I think anybody that talks about others bad driving habits  and additionally gives examples of how their habits are correct is a hypocrite.

I drive a lot, nearly 3 hours every day, 4 +hrs each weekend day. There are times when I am a lousy driver, impatient and aggressive and feel everybody else is a moron, there are also times when I am cautious and a " knight of the road". Sometimes both in the same day.  I freely admit to tailgatting when I get impatient, overtaking in dangerous situations, going too fast and sometimes too slow. I have been known to cut people off, not wait my turn at merges and to  being a driving asshole.

I think everybody posting in this thread is a hypocrite regarding their driving habits except me of course

No need to keep repeating yourself.  We're smart enough to get your point from your earlier posts.  Is your Xterra gray?

fixed it for ya buddy!

;)

Home travel from xtal has been pretty bad this season so far. Lots of slow-mos. I think those of us who travel this particular route a lot kind of know what we can and can't get away with, and where. I fall into the hypocritical party with Keith and Joe. A few miles over the limit. Last week though I think I passed 15 vehicles all driving between 45-50 on 410. I'm an asshole too when stuck behind people driving well below the limit under perfectly safe conditions.
