So, on with the auction
For a $100 bid I will now throw in the carriage bolts, washers and wing nuts needed to fasten your shovel handle to tails of the skis and a (non-locking) carabineer for the tips to allow you to create a rescue sled with these skis in less than two minutes with only about 2 ounces of extra gear in your pack. I'll even bring a drill with me on the pick-up appointment to drill the two 1/4 inch holes in your shovel handle if need be.

Here is what the two minute sled setup looks like:

The sled also happens to be quite sturdy (triangles tend to be that way .

au contraire, Robman, the represented historic background was in the original post, i.e. "only been skied in new fallen fresh powder by a conservative little old man on Sunday afternoon tours". Further historical embellishment introduces the potential for incongruity.  :
