For anyone looking to get their first winter backcountry ski setup put together at a reasonable price before the snow flies…
Here’s a fun and philanthropic way to get some serviceable Cascade winter skis and skins. Just slap on the binders of your choice and you’re good to go.

K2 Work Stinks with Custom Ascension Skins
Ski Length 180
Ski Dimensions 116/88/108
Made in USA :)
Tips drilled for a carabineer and tails have ¼ inch square holes for carriage bolts with wing nuts to facilitate their use as a rescue sled.
Top sheets have some bumps & scratches but still look presentable.
Bases have numerous scratches and blemishes but none that a good base grind shouldn’t eliminate. No core shots; no edge damage.
These skis have only been skied in new fallen fresh powder by a conservative little old man on Sunday afternoon tours. ;)
Have been drilled twice (once to move the bindings forward an inch) and mounted with Dynafit Tri Steps for a Mondo 27 boot with the heel piece adjustment centered so the current holes should work for 26 through 28 mondo boots, possibly more. Unused holes are filled with JB weld and the existing holes are threaded with the same.
Ascension skins custom cut “wall to wall” and fitted with custom “Rat Tail” attach system. Skins are very easily removed without removing skis. Plush side near perfect. Glue side still sticky but not like when new. May need a reglue in a year or so.
Skis and skins must be sold together as a set.

Auction Particulars
This is an absolute, no reserve auction; which means that the merchandise described will absolutely be sold to the highest bidder.
ALL PROCEEDS GO TO FRIENDS OF THE NORTHWEST WEATHER AND AVALANCHE CENTER. (purchase price may be tax deductable – check with your tax professional)
The poster (me) will decide when the skis are sold. So bid often and bid aggressively if you want a deal on these boards. I may surprise you. I may or may not give warning when the last bid is about to be accepted. I reserve the right to treat any bidder/poster unfairly :)
The successful bidder will be expected to pay the amount bid and pick up the skis within 14 days of the sale. Payment can be by PayPal or cash. The successful Bidder shall have the right to rescind the sale upon inspection at the time of delivery if he or she feels the skis were not accurately described. Delivery will be by appointment at a mutually agreeable time and location, most likely in either downtown Kent or at MRNP.

Out of area bidders also encouraged with these additional conditions:
1. Seller pays USPS Parcel Post shipping if sale price is in excess of $50. (within the continental US)
2. Once shipped the sale is final. No rescission rights upon inspection. (let me know before you bid if you want to see a tighter shot of any part of the merchandise)

Minimum Bid increment $5.00.

Here is the only description and review of the ski that I managed to find:

Description
Work Stinx, especially when there's new snow and you're stuck at the rock pile. We suggest using your sick days. With that in mind, we designed these sleds to make short work of anything soft or heavy. With a waist of 88mm and a 118mm shovel, you won't care if the snow has 3% water content, or is thick as oatmeal; your turn will be effortless. And, should you have to endure some hardpack getting from one powder stash to the next, the 12.0 sidecut will ensure that you won't feel like you're on a cafeteria tray.
Dimensions: 118/88/105 w/ 12mm sidecut
Radius: 25M@180
Construction: Triaxial Braided Torsion Box Cap, Lightweight wood core
Weight: 1985 Grams
Terrain: Back Country and Powder
Turns: All, Medium
Speed: Fast, Medium, Slow
Ability: Expert, Advanced, Intermediate
Lengths: 165, 180, 190

Summary: This is the first generation of the Work Stinx. I've skied it for many years now and here's the skinny. This is a powder ski. Period. I live in the Tetons and for powder, I look no further. On piste, I can carve it on soft pack but it takes work and they don't really like it. Hard pack....go home. Crud busting....hang on.
Again, I have no desire to look for another powder ski.
