We skied Mt Adams on Sunday. No signs of extreme avalanche hazard. Good snow instead.

Sometimes the instability comes on the second warmup. Ski the good snow, but watch out for incipient soft slab formation. It's only an opinion, but I think this June snowpack may not done yet. The mid-June '08 cycle, which slid on the second warmup and caught or nearly caught a number of us, is still very fresh in my mind. It was preceded by warm weather, good skiing, and a slide cycle.

Probing hard with a pole every couple hundred vertical feet on the descent is a great way to discover whether a still-supportable crust is dissolving beneath your skis. On a windloaded patch of the Snowfield Sunday, I easily pushed a pole almost to the handle through a surface that skied like mature summer corn.

I agree, based on my tour around Paradise today. Lots of potential for wet slides! Even where I skied over avy debris.
