The forecast/warning killed the plan of assorted family, friends and fellow TAYers to spend the weekend on Mount Baker. :( :'(

Ouch.

And are you staying home or skiing something 'safe' then?

Cheers

I may take some European guests to a prominent peak (Cheam) above the Fraser River on Saturday. Some members of the original party may be able to delay a Baker summit until a much cooler Monday; at least we are considering that option.

Heliotrope Ridge and environs seem overdue for a large cycle, but I'm not sure if it will happen this weekend. ( Or maybe it's already happened. ) Stability was excellent on Tuesday, but we intentionally left before anything really warmed up. I would be comfortable skiing Heliotrope or Coleman-Deming saddle this weekend, but I'd get in and out very early.

Per the forecast, I have no plans for ambitious day trips this weekend, but that's just me. I think, with meticulous planning and attention to detail, you could safely climb Baker this weekend, but not in a single day push.

There isn't much snow left in conservative terrain, the weather is going to be very nice, and the alpine is filled to bursting. Things could get interesting. Or not.
