Marcus - thanks for your early efforts at running the site. As Scotsman noted when repeatedly invited to help moderate the site, he would not be a perfect moderator. I don't think such a thing exists. At least you're putting in the effort on the behalf of all of us. I've noticed on other forums that the folks who complain the loudest about moderation being a "boys club" or whatever tend to be the ones who most seem to enjoy stirring the mud, and then who cry "who me?? what about them???" when found with their stick touching bottom. [full disclosure: I have never, as far as I know, met Marcus or any of the other current moderators]

Replied by aaron_wright on topic Re: Wilderness Boundaries - Snowmobiles & Skiers
Chris and Rob, my comment about being from the UK was merely a way of trying to understand where you two were coming from. I thought maybe the public in the UK had a different philosophy about the use and management of public lands. Hell, I don't even know if there are public lands in the UK. Maybe neither of you have spent a lot of time ski touring in areas with a heavy snow mobile use. Either way it wasn't meant as an insult, I was just trying to understand your point of view. Why Chris insists on continually calling me names and spewing profanity in my direction is his own problem, and why you(Rob) feel the need to jump to his aid is beyond me. You both seem to be what you claim to despise, cowardly internet bullies, I think you've proven that in your posts in this thread. It's no wonder people have threatened you Chris.

Oh, I forgot. I just got back from a nice tour, great to get some powder turns on your birthday. Not a snowmobile heard or seen, I think it's too late in the season for them.

Aaron ......darling, we were having a nice discussion until you turned it personal and displayed your bigotry for all to see. You by your own admission can't understand why people who partake in the same pastime as you would have different views from you. How conceited is that? When people then take you to task about it, you revert to calling them names and suggesting they are haters and not "givers" like you and don't have the same cultural feelings for the mountian culture like 'you'.
However I'm glad you had a nice birthday tour as I don't hate you, i just think youre a bit of an idiot and even idiots deserve some happiness.

and thank you Marus... your'e getting much better at moderating althought you still favor your friends and people you agree with but thats human nature. Youre a good man.... flawed like me... but good. :)

OK, I'll call your bluff ........If Marcus wants to re-invite me to be a  moderator .. I will accept since I have recieved so much critiscm for turning it down... and it is used against me all the time........ but I would want to reserve the right to disagree with my other moderators if I felt their actions unfair. ;)

I'm very glad you didn't mean to insult and take you at you word.

But I'm still not sure what reaction you thought your "they disagree with me because they're Brits" hypothesis was going to provoke other than that which you received.

Just wanted the explanation of what you originally meant though. So there's no need for yet further name calling or silly allegations of cowardice.

Happy Birfday.

No bluff from me, since I'm not among the group that would decide. Hey - I have no trouble with thoughtful disagreement with moderators. I think that your unique mix of mud-stirring and moderator critiquing, though, has taken on the characteristic of mosquito buzzing for me, to be honest, but perhaps Marcus and crew have found it to be more thought-provoking and constructive...
