*21st Amendment Brewing: Out of Minnesota somewhere.  The IPA is really good: strong sweet finishing hops that you'd never guess came out of a can. They also have a watermelon-wheat beer (!?)

Just had to say they are actually out of SF (though maybe they have it canned in Minnesota?). Only correcting you because it was one of my favorite little beer spots when I lived down there.

Yeah, did some research. 21st Amendment is an SF brewer. But apparently their production line isn't as expansive as their imagination, they really are only working at brewpub scale there in SF. They contracted with Cold Springs Brewery in MN to do basically all of their distributed product.

fat tire is OK -- but let us not forget about Oly - sure it's not a fancy "micro-brew" but it's pretty damn good beer, and you can't beat the price; hey "It's the water".

As I recently enjoyed Stugies' encore use of the phrase 'I'd like to share a revelation that I've had with you', I have here another one for your consideration. While it is really about adult beverages in a bottle, one has to know that it is coming to a can near you. Now, most of us know that Mikes Hard Lemonade does not come in a 12 oz bottle. It began distribution as an 11.2 oz bottle. Guiness Stout (in a can) is also 11.2 oz - but that's because of the head building fizzy device inside. I have never purchase a Mikes, and never will, but admit it's damn good. So, I've been singlehandidly propping up the sales of Smirnoffs Ice line of fine 12 oz offerrings, until recently when they, gasp, went to 11.2 (and raising the street price). We all know it's defacto fraud as (they hope) we are unlikely to notice the slightly smaller vessel, and I had to call them on it. I did not save a copy of the query form I submitted from their website, but you can imagine what i wrote. This was their reply:
"Dear Mr. David,

We appreciate you sharing your experience with the new 11.2oz bottles of Smirnoff Ice and value hearing
and learning from loyal consumers like you.

As you may know, we recently initiated a redesign of all Smirnoff Ice packaging and have done extensive
research across various markets. The new design is intended to better express to our consumers the
exceptional quality. Additionally, the 11.2oz bottle size continues to become a more global standard for
adult beverages with many brands selecting this size option as their primary consumer packaging.

While the response from our consumers to the new look of Smirnoff Ice has been quite favorable, we know
we need to keep listening so that we may continually improve what we do. Comments like yours are
always appreciated.

We hope we continue to earn your loyalty and that you will continue to enjoy Smirnoff Ice. Thank you
again for writing.

Sincerely,

name removed
Smirnoff Consumer Representative "

I say give the Nobel Peace Prize to Smirnoff for attempting to set a new Global Standard...

Maui Brewing Co. makes several micros in a can. I just stumbled across the Coconut Porter at the Market of Choice and I have to say I'm impressed.
