Is there a date for this set?  I'd love to show and help reduce the downward-keg-force...

EDIT
Ahhh, very clever... I see that the date is in the actual TITLE. Your forum-fu is strong...

At least for me, at least half the fun is hauling the pig. I am not a fan of the frothy beverage, much prefer the more portable clearer beverages but there is just something a little too Alcoholic about hauling around a barrel of spirits.
I think there is an analogy to backcountry skiing in there somewhere, in that there is an easier way (helicopter/chairlift) but that is not the point.

JDClimber,
What is your proposed location for said festivities? Southback? Top of the King? Where did you have in mind? I'll be happy to haul all the necessary cooking facilities to wherever and will even do the cooking if this event comes together. I plan on going up on Friday evening and staying until Sunday afternoon/evening.

Last year I watched the keg haul up to Campbell Basin Lodge and had an inspiration. Dude, you need skins on the bottom of your sled. I have some scraps I would be honored to donate to the cause. See ya on the 29th.

A reply to H20Joe, the Silver Basin tradition is still strong, tipsy at times, but still strong.

My experience has been that too much public talk of "kegs in the woods" draws attention that law enforcement types cannot ignore and fun events get shut down.  WE, of course, all know that the keg being discussed (and anything CJ ever dealt with in Silver Basin) only contains soft drinks, but public lands purists looking in might not be so savvy.  That's my 2 cents!  See you there!

"WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON"

Well, that seems fairly certain.
My guess is that it would be a bit of a challenge for the primary lessees of said forest lands to change their minds and opt for staying open weekends and thus spoil the party plans (it has happened before).

As far as location goes, my vote's for Campbell Basin, same place we've had it in years past... lots of options for terrain.  Plenty of challenging steeps and chutes around the ridges for the testosterone/adrenelene junkies and lots of low angle "inbounds" stuff below, just in case we get another dump or two between now and then and the avy danger gets out of hand.  Access is fairly easy, too.

Plus the beacon course might still be there we could play with.  Hey! How about a contest!!
I'll bring a prize for the fastest double beacon probe target find.

I got my frogpelts saved up to contribute to the pulk kitty.  (Snowball, good idea putting skins on the sled, BTW.)

Jerry, didn't you do a viddy of last year's party?
