Nice idea, Rippy! 1st quarter moon 2/12. Full 2/19.
West Seattle has the max VF in the city limits: 514' el. at High Point at Myrtle St Reservoir to the sea level. I've wanted to do this since someone posted in 2012. Here's a route...
A fine and pleasant trip report.
Thanks for the beautiful pictures of a great place. Great to see a new generation meeting the mountaln goat and skiing that basin. Bikes were an excellent idea!
Very sorry to hear that news. Thoughts and prayers for the skier, family and loved ones.
And today the 4th, too. Lots of Camp Muir hikers attired in stars and stripes. I flew my red, white and blue K2 Hardsides. Skiing was bumpy but fun and not grabby, top (Muir) to bottom. Ki...
A few pix here
Beautiful photos, esp the B&W one. Makes me want to go there and go into Grand Park again.
It was fun last Sunday around back in on the south ridge of Yakima Peak, east facing slopes and bowls. Still lots of snow right from the road.
great TR. That is such a beautiful place. Have hiked/run it during the high hunt season so have a hard time imagining it deserted. Got to try it with skis.
I thought you were fast in trail running shoes, but this is really pushing it on rubber tires and skis, Andy! Nice day!
That looks like fun! Much better that climbing up or down the rockpile there. Nice timing.
Lots of smooth snowfield most of the way, but very and variably grabby on the thin layer of new snow on the low angle slopes. The face of pan point was more fun, using the narrow chute along side a de...
I think I've seen that happen, but it was not contrails in this case. There were cirrus clouds across the sky that day.
Thanks, Amar. Quite a display that day! The luckiest experience I've had was skiing through a rainbow (at least it felt like we went all the way through) in the Cascades one spring day.
Amar, Thanks for the TR and all the info on halos. Here is a photo of a tangential pair later that day, looking high in the sky west over Puget Sound from Seattle at about 7 pm, so one may have been a...
Thanks for putting out the call, Silas. I was there today with plenty of others enjoying the conditions. The only names I caught were Phoebe, the dog, and yours. some pix here of other skiers an...
author=silaswild link=topic=25467.msg107621#msg107621 date=1343882009] The road is so smooth we could walk or jog it barefoot back to retrieve the cars. Day before, I kept my socks on but carried my b...
Here's a view from Faraway Rock, across Reflection Lake, on Sat 7/21.Any predictions on melt pond development?
Wolfs, Love seeing your evening shots of the places you go. and the generous descriptions.
Happy birthday, Silas. Nice to meet you at the Paradise lot on Friday AM and see the preview video. We stuck with our plan and slogged up the Muir route mostly in whiteout with our hiking...
Thanks for the TR, Don. Always great to have an epic trip with most of it within sight and sound of I-90. I hope you are working on your home chores now, trying to rebuild that stack of ch...
Nice tracks, and timed just right for the conditions as usual, ....but where is the telemetry report??? A skier posted a video on the West Seattle Blog of the Seattle ski descent with most vertical: ...
Great TR and route choice. I have only taken the Low Route, down in the ravine (the Short Bus Route?), which is has quite a bit more ups and downs, and probably was not so good after it go...
Beautiful turns. Looks like you timed it right!
Thanks for the WS tour tips -- we've only been here since October so all ski route advice appreciated. And the Liberty text is good advice too. Could have used her headlamp by the end of the pm t...
Hiking over on McClellan Butte on the E and SE facing slopes above 3800 feet to 4400 feet where we turned around we found variable soft dense consolidating or sugary powder, with an inch to two of sof...
Congrats! Really fun video.
Beautiful trip, trip report, and attitudes. Great stamina. I've never been as tired in my life as after a Shuksan climb via Fisher Chimneys and that was without Baker. Fred Becky calls that "...
well earned turns for June, David
