Looks rather busy at Paradise for a "closed gate", "government shutdown".    ???

Concession clients were given 48 hours (midnight tonite) to leave because of the government shutdown, so those cars on webcam may be diehard Inn guests or perhaps overnight campers that haven't yet cleared out.

Paradise Inn was scheduled to be open until the 7th, but has announced an early closure for the winter.  Normally the Longmire gate is open all night when the Inn is operating, so this probably means the beginning of nightly closures at Longmire, even if a funding CR passes soon.

Then wouldn't it have been a great opportunity to just leave the gates open for 48 hrs with a sign saying the gate will be closed as of MN on 10/2/13 and "please enjoy your Park for the 48 hrs"? I know you're just reporting the info and appreciate it, but it's so classic that they never make the decisions to the general public benefit. I was equally annoyed that the gate to White River was closed yesterday when they had said the day before it was open to the WR Campground.

Instead there are signs at the park gates saying keep out, and extra security enforcement ready to ticket any trespassers.

and park leos at chinook pass to make sure you don't cross the line on the snowfields there.  this morning i needed forestry info on Ponderosa pine growth volume, so googled and landed on USDA site ~ only page available was the one that said it's all shut down   ~  they threw the flippin switch on the way out..!

and prepare yourself for retroactive salaries once funding is restored..

Still private-looking cars on webcam almost two days after the deadline:

I think two of them have been there since Monday and two were not there this morning (Friday).
