Dynafit Heel Alignment was created by gorp
After having a shop mount some Verticals on new skis my heels looked like this. The toe pincer on one side was not even sitting all the way in the tech fitting with the heel engaged.  The boots and bindings previously lined up perfectly on other skis.  I eventually convinced them this was unacceptable and they remounted by hand with helacoils.  Now one is perfect and the other is better but still crooked.  The toe connection does not appear to be affected.  Not many options left for fixing.  They insist this is within the parameters of Dynafit mounts (even though it is clearly not executed properly).  I understand what I am entitled to as a customer but I want to know about others' experience.  My question is, for those of you who have heel pieces that are not perfectly aligned, have you had any pre-release issues or excessive wear on the heel pins?  Your size and skiing style might be useful as well. It bothers me that the heel piece will be pre-loaded in one direction and that the heel pins are taking unnecessary abuse from the boot heel when stepping down into ski mode.
Thanks

I wouldn't accept a shop mounted ski with the alignment shown in the picture above. The boot should be centered. Find another shop or learn to DIY

I agree and regret not doing it myself. Here is the alignment after being "fixed." Interested in hearing if people have been skiing them with this amount of misalignment...

Having bent the toe pinchers (actually, having a buddy bend them after I lent him my skis, but that's another story..) enough to get misalignment like you had initially, I had horrible pre-release problems.  They were unskiable without the toe locked.  I can't comment on the more moderate mis-alignment, other than it's more than I've had in any of my mounts.

You might be able to rescue the mount by loosening the screws on the toe piece and then putting the boot in the binding and locking the toe, then using the boot as a big lever to torque on it to try to get it to line up.  I think there is a bit of wiggle in how the front screws all seat in their holes (and I have used this to line up a binding when remounting), but YMMV.

That's unfortunate, I wouldn't use that shop any more. I've done plenty free-hand-back-porch-home-mounts done with a hand drill and a six pack that came out better than that. As far as fixing, I think andyrew's suggestion is it. I would only add that you might put more glue/epoxy/whatever in with the screws though when you back them out. Once you lever the binding into place with the boot, screw the toe piece down a little bit, then re-adjust using the boot as a lever again. Rinse and repeat until the screws are tight and the toe is (hopefully) aligned. Someone might come up with a better method.

thanks folks. i was planning to do just that. i have my doubts it will be successful because I believe it was put on using that very technique and to no avail. i'll give it another shot and if no luck, back they go...again.
