Man I feel for you...
New boards and an f-ed up mount with extra holes.
Even when there is a jig used to put the holes in it is possible to get a misalignment if they are not mounted correctly, but the margins are closer.
The fact that they used helicoils without telling you raises some concern to me.
This is what we get from legalizing it :D

The skill set of most ski shops is minimal. The thing that brings their quality up is having good jigs to predrill the screw holes accurately. (which is the key to a good mount) Any dope can screw a binding to a ski once the pilot holes are accurately drilled.... Ski shops rely on their jigs so they can do a good job.

Once a shop screws up the pilot hole locations, they are probably at the end of their rope. The skill set that is needed to correct mistakes is beyond your average shop technician. Helicoils could work, but I would use "binding freedom" inserts instead because they are much superior to helicoils, which only work well in wood core skis that are medium density and better. That usually limits a helicoil's use to resort skis, since touring skis are made with lighter core materials...

I am a cabinet maker, so I do all my own mounts. I have installed binding freedom inserts on 4 pair of skis. I like them a lot. The pilot hole for inserts is bigger than screw holes, so your skis could be salvaged by a skilled craftsman,... but not that shop probably.

It will take more than a few hours to fix your skis properly. No shop will spend the time to do that...

Conveniently, in round 1 they also put 3 extra holes where there shouldn't be any.

Am I reading this correctly? So there are three extra holes in close proximity (I assume) to the holes they actually used to mount? TAY lynch mobs have formed over far less than this.

haha. yeah, total cluster.  luckily, the first screw-up was so bad (3 1/2" off the mark) that it doesn't interfere with the proper mount!

I pulled both toe pieces off.  The good one has four helicoils.  The crooked one used only two, front left screw and back right screw.  The other two of the four use the original holes.  The whole thing is a farce.

Joedabaker: First they drilled 3 holes wrong. Then mounted crooked and maintained that the misalignment was normal. I eventually convinced them (head technician) that that was false when he realized his Dynafit jig was not accurate (supposedly). I reluctantly agreed to the helicoil mount which he then botched as well.

What shop did this magnificent job so that we may all be wary if ever we pass through their portal?

Get some of these wood plugs

www.tognar.com/binding-hole-plugs-wood/

plug the holes completely and start over. Marine epoxy is great, so is J.B.Weld
