I do all my own mounts. I am a cabinetmaker by trade, so I have the tools and a lot of hands on experience. The 2 x 4 idea is good, BUT I would use something a little better than an actual 2 x 4. A 4" strip ripped off of a 3/4" thick panel of finished plywood or a piece of surfaced solid lumber gives you a nicer surface to practice on.
This way you can actually calculate centering and precise distances for your mount and see how well your boot fits in that test mount before you drill into a ski.
2 x 4's aren't straight, or flat, nor do they have crisp edges to make measurements off of... A flatter, straighter piece of practice material allows you to get a better idea of how accurate your actual mount will be on a ski. Good luck....
that's just my $.02

They will mount them for you at the Sporthaus because they also sell them there and they mounted mine just fine, but be sure you let them know where you want them on your skis,or
Go to the Little Red School House past Naches and have Kim mount them for you. He is an old school guy and can do any mounting even if he doesn't have a template. Same thing though let him know where you want them on your skis

From the "Bottom Feeders workshop"
1) Somewhat mentioned above but again it's very important there is clearance in any and all binding holes for the screws to easily pass through. If not the thread will lock between binding and ski and leave a gap. In other words the diameter of any binding screw hole must be bigger than the outside diameter of any screw. This may be the number one reason for binding attachment to ski failure that I have seen over the years.
2) Tapping the screw hole is important most especially if you have a metal top sheet. I make my own tap using a binding screw and dremel disc my own longitudital groves (2) . Works good as most metal layers are alu or similar soft non ferrous metal.
3 Heartily concur on pre mounting on 2x4 ,1x4 or plywood.
4) Drink beer

So I mounted these up last night, It was much easier than I thought. Thanks for all your tips, I ended up taping up a drill bit with gaffeters tape and punched them all in, Had a couple out of line but the screws managed to find their way. Is the epoxy part that critical for these bindings? I never did it on my dukes. If so I'll get some today and remount them with epoxy tonight.
As I had them on the bench, I noticed something weird....
Problem is I don't know if one is bent down, or the other one is bent up. Anyone know if it can be fixed? They are 2 years old I doubt K2 would do anything? The one in the back is right about 3/4" taller than the other one just in the front, not the rear.
