Feb 8th 2012 ZAP's rehab was created by Robie
I was wondering how ZAP (Dave Czaplicki) was doing after his surgery , sent him a email and recieved this reply below from Jill Czaplicki his wife and favorite ski partner. The whole story is in the Journal at Zap's Caring Bridge site.
"Just a quick update. All went well with Zap's surgery, but there were complications afterwards -- he had a stroke the next day! Although he is making amazing progress, he's going to need intensive rehab. This is going to be a long process, but he's committed to doing everything necessary to get back in the mountains.
If you'd like to check on his status and/or leave a comment, we've set up a blog at www.caringbridge.org/visit/zapski . If you'd like to send a personal message that you don't want to enter in the Guestbook at Caringbridge or want to post a photo to his blog, you can send it to us at zapjillski@gmail.com, and I will post the photo.
Thanks in advance for your caring and your concern."

Some 15 to 20 years ago I was encouraged to go out as I started bc skiing by reading Zap trip reports.
Zap:
More and more skiers are taking to the backcountry daily. They need to know where to go and are willing to break trail for a way to the goods.
The community needs you now more than ever, my brother.
Heal fast!!.

Zap, get well!
I remember you standing at the bottom of Narada Face in winter 2006 directing me to the best line as I searched from the road above. You dialed me in to a great run, then made a bee-line up the face for your own. You liked it and hooted "yes" on several turns. Great skier and fun guy! You'll be on it again soon, for sure. Here's a shot of you after the run described above:
Gotta love the "I just had a great run and love this" smile.

I knew there was a disturbance in THE FORCE. Now it makes sense.
ZAP, let's see a TR soon. And no armchair quarterbacking.
