Thanks for the input and encouragement, all. Muir is definitely on my "To Do" list and your time input has given me a game plan. Some "every day" time of walking, hiking skiing with more vertical involved and putting my pack a day habit behind me is going to be my PT regimen. Right now its my thighs that say quit on the up and take forever to come back. Stretching needs to be added too so that every ski down is not a "You fall - You get hurt big" slope.

I should be able to tour into well into my 80's as by then an AT boot will have a "dial in your flex" knob and the weight of a running shoe. Skis will have adjustable camber/tip rise and a nano tech waxless base with uni-directional glide so skins won't be required. Bindings too will be passe as feather weight super magnets with an on/off switch will replace them. And the new "forever young" drugs under development on the Tour de France.........

It rains in North Bend? Really?:-) The move plan is to rent in/near North Bend and then shop to buy in Cle Elum for the sun, lower taxes and access to I 90. Should I have cowboy boots for around town wear to fit in? I'm cool with that as learning to ride a horse is another bucket list entry.

Wooley12....you will have no problem getting up to Muir. I have seen huge pot-bellied men get to Muir. I have seen small children get to Muir. I have seen old ladies get to Muir so suck it up and get it done and stop whining!

Be cautious Scotsman. The color yellow sometimes makes me sad ;-) I was merely seeking the advice to help in deciding the correct wines to go with lunch and dinner for the climb up.
