Paradise to Muir- How long? was created by wooley12
90 deg. and 50% humidity have me plotting ski trips for next season. About how long does it take an average skier to skin from Paradise to Muir? I'll take that time and multiply by 2 or 3 to gauge my own "Low Adrenaline-Now Sweat" or as I call it, LANS time. Thanks.

Average? I'd say 4.5-5 hours.

Thanks for making me seem above average.   :D  Some of my ascents are done in "Low Aerobic Minimal Exertion" or LAME time.
5400-10040' = about 2700 v.f.  If 1000 feet an hour is what most of us can do, andyski has a good estimate for you.
You're on the east coast, right?  60s and still getting out?  The last thousand feet are much longer than the rest, but from your posts and photos I'd say Muir should definitely be on your tick list and will be manageable and memorable.

Yep, living on the east cost flat lands until the house sells. Then it's looking like a move to North Bend or Cle Elum. In my 60's and just started getting out. Skinned up from Paradise last June as far as the first big climb then the heat, beauty and imminent steep boot pack called for a 2 hour lunch and glide back down. Sounds like it would be a nice "long day" ascent with an overnight at Muir. Thinking a full season of building "Cascade legs" might even allow me to yo yo a few times below Muir before bedding down.

Weird math? 5450 to 10, 200 = 4,800 +/-; 1,000 vft/hr sustained over 4800 vft is pretty good for old folks = 4.8 hours w/o stops.
