Kyle Miller's FreeRider Thurs, Feb 23 Bellingham

Hi all ... this is a 3-min trailer for our newest film FreeRider .. to be released sometime in the Fall, 2011  .. 

It's a short about our very own NW born n raised Kyle Miller . For those who don't know .. Kyle is a splitboard mountaineer who climbs and rides each year for as long as the snow is still good out there in the backcountry; then he works hard for a couple of months and saves every penny so he can do it all again. Anyhow our vision for the film is to capture his great passion for the sport, his super frugal lifestyle and dedication to fulfilling his dreams, his good heart and wonderful sense of humor, and the pain and joy of true splitboard mountaineering ... trudging for miles and often even days in the "epic hunt for good snow" ... plus of course the deep wilderness experience and spectacular mountain scenery.

So we only recently set to work on it. While we do all the front country filming .. there's no way we could accompany him on his backcountry trips .. they have been EPIC to say the least .. so we enlisted the help of others .. namely the talented Jake Hase who is the videographer for Crystal Mountain and now K2, and your fellow TAYer Jason Hummel . While my good friend Jace is mainly out there for his photography biz and on shoots for Eddie Bauer's 1st Ascent (to photograph Kyle since he just recently became one of their sponsored athletes) we asked him if he could also put his great eye to work for us shooting video. He said he would give it a go .. so we finagled a video camera for him (thx to EB) and the rest is history .. I keep telling him that I think he would make a great filmmaker too .. an old dream of his that I hope we have helped to bring back to life again.

I'd also like to mention the musicians we're using ... I am a great lover of music .. most any kind of music. I knew exactly what I wanted for this film .. and I knew I only wanted to go with local NW bands -- to support them in their art by giving them whatever exposure we could. We have a few others lined up as well for the final film .. but for now it's just these 2 incredibly talented groups for the trailer -- I went searching for them on Reverbnation and as soon as I heard their music I looked no further ..

FYI: if it doesn't come up right away (it starts with a black screen but should start rolling pretty quick) .. or if it skips while playing .. that means too many are watching it .. so just come back l8r -- late night, midday and mornings are good -- tomorrow might be really bad though as the word is getting out and others are posting it

Looks great! Kyle's certainly a worthy subject.

I hope the film is as good as the trailer. Kyle is a great guy and depicts/represents the classic live by the thread of duct tape lifestyle that has been going forever in mountain communities worldwide.
