Good point.  I guess I just don't see a tremendous lack of humility in the bc trip reports section of this site and thus no need to teach anyone a lesson.

A key reason I started the Alpenglow ski history project is that I saw people distorting NW skiing history based on preconceived notions and lack of information. That stuck in my craw. So I started researching the old days and recording what I heard about more recently. The result will never be perfect but at least it provides a framework for improvement. I started the project early enough in the steep skiing game to have captured many of the interesting first descents done in the Cascades. But I'm still not satisfied with the record from the 1980s and 1990s, especially on big obvious peaks like Baker, Shuksan, Adams and a few others. I think Rainier has been pretty well documented.

Another thing that motivates me is that I want to make sure that the old days and modern times get similar levels of attention. I think all the phases in the development of skiing in the NW are equally interesting and important.

Seth, the other reason old people don't post is they are lazy and forget to download and upload photos and a story.

I think it's very cool to have, and know the history. All the effort that goes into keeping it is highly appreciated. Every line is new to me and it's an honor to share tracks with my inspirations... even if it is that day, or days or decades later( so long as their tracks aren't there). whatever, I just wanna have fun, and it doesn't have to be GNAR to stoke my fire....

Sure there are probably thousands of firsts left, but I've always liked this quote from Sky...

"virginity is poor selection criteria", or something like that, I am terrible with direct quotes.

there is a reason nobody has slept with that ugly person who lives in the middle of nowhere.

For ski lines: agreed

there is a reason nobody has slept with that ugly person who lives in the middle of nowhere.

I tapped that.   ;)
