i mean this in the most positive way possible but how can you seriously start off a post with what seems like a bunch a negativity about not having quick and easy access to safe solo ski terrain right smack in the middle of a series of the biggest and best storms of the entire season?

Days like today are when you should plunk down some coin on a lift ticket and make some turns on slopes with a mini ski patrol angel sitting on your shoulder.

Because it's not accessible, since I planned a later start. And I'm sure I speak for many.

My season pass would have been useless due to the avy on I-90. www.kirotv.com/news/27027492/detail.html

Depends on what time you would have left.  I don't know when the pass closed either.

I skied at the pass from 7-10 this morning.  I was down to North Bend around 10:30.

Glad you got to enjoy it : )

I guess human traffic patterns are more predictable than avy-related traffic patterns & I'll just be happy to have played it safe.

Thanks. Had I gone up earlier, wouldn't I be stuck indefinitely there (which would be ok if I had no other obligations later this evening)

I've been stuck here 12 years ;D

when heading up I 90 during a storm,
1. bring a tissue
a.Clean goggles during closure
b. dry eyes if you don't get thru

when I beat a closure, I always pray they close it down behind me
welcome to seattle

-You wouldn't have been by yourself. ;)
-There probly are places.  Although not quite as straight forward as Hyakbc suggests, the adventure and possibility of discovery slightly make up for it.  ;)
-At least you were looking at the DOT's website, and not parked on the freeway tying up the call center all day.  :-[
-Tip: Fix a broken binding in the cab of your truck while hopelessly waiting for the road to open. (yeah, that's right. I'm a telemark skier.  Very funny.)  >:(

That concludes my misplaced TR from an epic day down the tubes. :'(
