Options when Snoq Pass is closed was created by reddirt
I am a new Seattle-ite who extremely disappointed & frustrated w/ lack of access Snoqualmie Pass today. I was hoping to skin up/ski down Hyak a few times by myself. Frankly the WSDOT site has been breaking my heart all day today.
Are there any places where I can go when I-90 is in the state that it's in today? Like some wide hilly park area slightly westward of where the pass is closed?
Or an area towards Stevens that would be appropriate for going solo that's not avy prone & kinda easy. I vaguely recall some area whose name begins w/ a "Y" towards Stevens.
Also, is it just me or is Snoq Pass kinda more prone to access issues than Crystal & Stevens.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

1. No. I-90 is closed at Exit 34.
2. Yodelin, but this is NOT an endorsement of going solo in weather like this.
3. Yes
You should have gotten up earlier

Yes, when the closure is at Denny Cr. Grab a map and pick any mountain west of the pass and east of Mt. Si, north or south of the highway. Pull over and park, climb up, ski, repeat. If you can see it you can ski it.

Thanks. Had I gone up earlier, wouldn't I be stuck indefinitely there (which would be ok if I had no other obligations later this evening)

I skied at the pass from 7-10 this morning. I was down to North Bend around 10:30.

Depends on what time you would have left. I don't know when the pass closed either.Thanks. Had I gone up earlier, wouldn't I be stuck indefinitely there (which would be ok if I had no other obligations later this evening)
