Monika Johnson missing near alpental....

I first met her on a guided trip on the Spearhead traverse. She would always take a few extra laps after setting up camp - strong! Not to mention the one-hour ass-kickings she handed out at VertFest.
Really sad.

I am heartbroken to see my gut feeling confirmed after they mentioned it was a full face helmet

I'm going to remember her the last way I saw her.  Smiling ear to ear in the parking lot in the sunshine at Paradise right before she took off up the mountain.

I skied the Spearhead Traverse with Monika a few years back.. It was a great trip very largely due to the contagious joy and energy she brought with her by just being in the mountains.

We skinned into each other again.. we'll actually she skinned past us with Amar in her slipstream.. while I was out with Scottie and Dromond for amazing cold smoke turns pre season at Xtal.

Then, as has been mentioned by so many already, she proceeded to stomp a steep skin track with all of us in her wake... just the kitty and her full face helmet strapped on her pack and that smile when she turned back to make sure we were somewhat keeping up with her

I'm very glad I got to ski with you Monika. Wish we could do so again.

I did not know her but for the wonderful things she'd said here on this site. To her friends and family I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful person.
