Put that into credible numbers and propose a business plan to them. Seriously!

A buddy tells me White Pass was advertising a $20 one ride ticket in the October 2010 edition of Off Piste Magazine, so I guess they just recently decided to do away with that option (I recently shelled out for a full price ticket just to tour slackcountry all day).
I think Whistler has a pretty good system in place with their one ride ticket. It's fairly pricey (around 50% of a full price ticket), you have to buy it at guest services, show them all your bc gear and skins, and give them an intended route description. The high price and hoops to jump through may be a hassle, but it helps prevent freeloaders buying a one ride and then skiing the resort all day. This works even from a profit driven, capitalist perspective because it increases the customer base, without making the in bounds terrain any more crowded. I'd gladly pay up to $30 for a one ride to tour slackcountry from Baker, Crystal, White Pass, or even Alpental on the right day.

Why would WP want to encourage BC ski tourers into their back bowls to compete with skiers with day passes or season passes who want to use the lifts all day and do sidecountry laps?? Doesn't make sense.
One of the reasons I will go to WP now is because of the new terrain and the possibility of skiing untracked terrain. I will buy a full day pass and try and get as many untracked laps as possible. I don't want to compete for those untracked laps with skier tourers who haven't paid. If the area was tracked out by ski tourers then I probably wouldn't bother buying a day pass in the future.
It's obviously a good marketing practice as WP is now more than ever on the radar of skiers that want good sidecountry access. $20 bucks seems about right to make it fair for the competition for the untracked.
For full day ticket I'll get more laps.... for $20, the one way rider will get less. Why should those that buy season passes or full day passes subsidize those they are competing with for untracked?

I'm going to Robie as soon as we get some decent snow conditions. I've skied there before and liked it even before the expansion.
