White Pass BC access change was created by evan
FYI / Question to others:

I'm planning a ski trip to White Pass here shortly, and so I called the resort to inquire about updates to the one-way chair lift ticket.  In years past, you could buy a one way pass to get you up closer to Hogsback Mtn.  When I heard back from the resort, they said they're no longer selling one-way passes in light of their two new chairlifts in the old BC.

This is a bit disappointing as it means that I'll now have to skin up the ski resort slopes - taking precious time away from joyful BC powder on the south slopes.

Question for others - has anyone been there since they opened this year?  Is there any chance of scoring an under-table one-way chairlift deal?  I think the resort has become more paranoid about BC skiers in general after they had numerous rescues recently for inbound skiers travelling outside the new borders.

I appreciate any thoughts on what's happened to the White Pass area...and to know whether it's still a viable BC ski tour destination.

Thanks.

I'm guessing that their new use of the RDIF pass system has contributed to their dropping of the one-way ticket. Seems they're only checking at the base. Flip side is if you're willing to make the effort, once up top you could ride lifts rest of the day..

as far as bc access, there is plenty of warning signage (and a beacon check station), but you're free (as of earlier in the week, at least) to engage in activities beyond the rope. That may change, as discussed earlier. Most days there I at least skootch up to the top once or twice to take a look, and rather surprisingly, rarely see evidence of other riders there. you get maybe 300' of untracked back into the area. Haven't been many good viz days, though.

As friendly as they are toward bc access, you'd think they could come up with a workable solution - maybe an honor system? Dont know the change in ridership numbers when they went from $7 to $20 for a one way, but doubt it was many in either event. More requests for reinstatement of the single trip pass can only help.

you are quite correct, I'm sure. All the more reason for WP to install a workable system for those willing to pay.
