TAY was created by Kneel Turner
So, DavidG has stepped up and offered his definition of TAY, and I happen to think that it is a reasonably acceptable, and well thought out submission:

"I think that any controlled, gliding, descent, with changes of direction, on snow, is the minimum and absolute criteria." -DavidG.

What is the legal definition of "Turns All Year"?

I must know because Scotsman has motivated me to actually TAY just to "buck" the system.

I give Scotsman credit for establishing the "system" so that I may "buck" it.

Luckily TAY is one of the few things I get to do that is not subject to a legal definition or other regulation. Count what you want! If Mack wants to send you frowny faces for your accounting method, that's his choice too I guess.

I count 35 months, but there are two months where I have no firm record of where and when. I just know I did (routine Baker, Table/Ptarmigan, probably solo so no record of a trip plan). Luckily they are a January and a May in my first year, there is no way I missed them. So, I'm counting them and it just doesn't matter to me if that's not good enough for somebody else.

It's kind of like golf (at least at my level); as long as no money is at stake, let your buddies count their strokes however they like.

I'm with Travertine.
I was around when Charles decided to install a public forum on his, up 'til then, personal "Turns-All-Year" website.  As I recall he made it clear that he wasn't the least bit interested in establishing (and especially policing) any stated criteria, rather leaving it up to the individual to establish and police his or her own personal criteria.
That may not fly with the Guinness folks but it works just fine for me :)

Heh -- given that the site is transitioning to me, a Turns-(almost)-All-Year skier, it seems Charles vision for a criteria-less future is safe and sound.

But I did some boot glissading on Baring in August... maybe that counts.

Yo, my man !!..

Also interesting how folks cringe when the word 'legal' comes up  ;D   Can't wait for the first snow to hit my driveway so I can pull out the ole' Flexi Flyer and get my November turns in..  ;)

The Liberals will expand the meaning of TAY to encompass usages not previously envisaged by the founding fathers of the TAY constitution and demand affirmative action for disadvantaged TAYers.

The Conservatives will impart narrow meanings to the TAY consititution that they will defend while clinging to their religion and guns.

We cannot escape politics.
