Snow depth predictions for July 22 at Paradise?

I was up there this Saturday so some might have changed. Included a picture that is literally right outside the visitor center. Big bare spot from the well travel part of the trail but still quite a bit of coverage. (though only a few inches deep) Wildflowers? Probably not, but more bare spots? definitely!

I'd like to ski the Muir snowfield this weekend. Recent images on TAY look like one can still ski to/from the car. Does anyone have more recent information?

Again this is all from saturday so been a few more days of melting. But there had been 3 (or four?) parts of the trail that were totally bare. The first is just outside the parking lto and is maybe 15 feet long. The other two are a bit longer. But for skiing down they are avoidable and easily skied around. The portion of the trail right before the muir snowfield cutoff is bare also. But again avoidable on the ski down. The first part of the muir snowfield has a few rock spots.

Really it would probably be easier to just bootpack it till your past those rock spots on the muir snowfield. Thats what my group did at least. Though it would be easy to skin up as well and just carry or go around the rocky sections.

For the ski down we went from muir to the nisqually chute then hiked back up and skied to the parking lot. you should easily be able to ski to within 100 yards of the visitors center.

Anyways hope that helps!

Hi Nick; sounds like a good day.  Sure was sunny and nice Sat.!
On that day we had ski boots on at Reflection Lakes.  Sounds like the snow has peeled back rapidly there too.

???   Have you noticed yet how many of the "Rusty Knees/Bad Back/Something's Aching or Numb Again" crew are on a yearround quest for tours where they don't have to pick skis up off the snow, let alone drag them around on their pack with boots like a ball and chain?   ;)
They must have forgotten the simple joys of having ski tips and buckles get caught on different trees at the same time.

Sunny, perfect temp, but a long day.

Was actually only up there cause Team Survivor Northwest had a training hike to just climb to Camp Muir. They are climbing Mt. Adams this following week. most of those gals are 50+ and all are cancer survivors. My mom was one of the so myself and another "mom"'s kid and his friend tagged along and we climbed up. us young guys made it in ~4 hours and 30 minutes. Ski down took all of 30 so we were down at ~1:30 or so. Then came the waiting for the ladies. Took them 11 hours and 30 minutes to hike up and down. Not bad in my mind for a group all over 50 years old and most didnt start doing much physical stuff till after they had cancer! Only bad part was they didnt get down till 8pm. So Myself and two friends had just been waiting for them since 2pm (basically) which was rather boring! But people watching, a nap, and more people watching passed the time just fine.

You the man AND the son! Tell all the ladies congrats, and that they are ready for Adams.
I'm only 50+++ and I'm gonna get tired just taking my mom, my son, and his bride out to dinner Friday night.

o they are ready thats for sure. And they are doing it over 3 days too. I guess they are hiking like ~2 miles in the first day and camping. Then doing another 2 miles and camping the following day. Then finally summiting on the third day and coming down. Kind of an odd way to do it in my mind but thats what their guide service wants to do! And yeah they have guide service due to the liability and crap i guess.

Still proud of my mom and all the ladies going!
