I'm neither smooth nor diplomatic.

But I'll do what I can.

Ron and I have talked about using TAY as a forum/medium of interaction with the NPS folks on certain issues. I don't have the time to be involved in the process that much, but if that interaction with the public needs a place to land on the internet, I'm happy to have it be here.

Thank you Marcus, I really appreciate the offer.
As I said this group needs to be formalized, a leader ( not me..... so don't worry) and engage all parties in a polite, respectful way to try and get to theheart of the matter and try and find a solution that maintains access. Boyne can't do it. The NPS doesn't seem to want to negotiate and will just say write us a letter that disappears into the "black hole".

MRNP is likely working to establish data to support a future action to be based in "public health and safety".

Once the NPS has gathered enough data (unprepared skiers entering the backcountry via their dirt) they will be able to make an independent  finding with respect to public safety and threaten to close the access to the King.

So Scotsman, if this is true wouldn't responding affirmatively to the NPS lady better serve the access cause more than a surly grunt?

What would help most is everyone reading and responding as honestly as possible, to start. Chris said he politely refused to answer.

One of the reasons that the NPS is even *remotely* considering opening a dialogue on TAY is because of the tone of the site. Whether everyone agrees that it's for the best, I hope we can maintain that in any related threads so that we can use our collective power as a user group to help influence their decisions.

Not trying to chastise anyone here, I just want this to be a useful starting point and not get derailed into something else.

We're past that Juan. This is serious and we need to start concentrating on the issue not the individuals. I'd be happy to have you join the cause if you want to.
