Gear for Spring Summits was created by biker
I have been on tele gear for the past 4 years and love skiing on it both inbounds and out, with my primary setup beign G3 El Hombres with BD01s and Garmont Energy boots, free heel is my preference in soft snow. That said I want to start doing more peaks and mountaineering type skiing this spring and am in the market for an AT setup that is more efficient going up while still being fun going down in mixed snow conditions. Goals include summits on most of the volcanoes including rainier and general peak bagging. Im 6'3" and 190 and tend to ski aggressively and want a setup that will be able to keep up if im skiing hard lines, but am willing to give up some power to make the climb better. I looking for suggestions on boots that are pretty stiff for skiing but tour and hike well and are light and a ski to match. Used is good cause im cheap. Bindings will ideally be dynafit ft12s but i might end up withs 10s or onyxs to save a few hundred $. Im a 29-30 boot and like a ski in the 185 range, that is light and stiff, thinking 90ish underfoot. what does everyone recommend?

From my own experience, I recommend sticking with the tele gear :)

Ditto that.  There is a bit of a weight penalty, but I ski on similar gear to you (Kilowatts), and doing jump-teles down the big peaks is a rush that stays with me all year.   8)
What about lighter freeheel skis and boots with some more 01s?  Voile fixed ski crampons work well with them.
Translation:  Marcus and I are pinheads who are clueless about AT.

Baker Super-lights skis are really nice, light and decently stiff.  You can find 'em cheap since they've been around for awhile.

G3 Saint's are also sweet.

Scarpa Sprit 4's is a good all around boot and are also available used.  The may be a little on the heavier side, but when you put your weight into them they'll hold their ground.

Also these are the gold standard for light and stiff boots, but fit differently than the Scarpas

I have a pair of Super-lights with Comforts matched to BD Methods.  The Methods are a little heavy, but have a great walk mode (not quite enough reward cuff travel but that can be modified) and are plenty stiff to do anything.

I also replaced my Dynafit leashes with these: www.bndskigear.com/
much better for the doing stuff in the mountains.

Have fun in the hills

I use a pair of K2 Sahales for that sort of endeavor and have been very pleased. They are not fat by any means, but that doesn't really matter to me for steep glacier corn. Check em out (if they even still make them).
