my legs are plenty strong for heavier gear but if im buying stuff for the purpose and lighter is equivalent in other ways why not?
My main reason for at is I find my tele boots very cumbersome when boot climbing on snow or rock and they dont play nice with crampons, dynafits also have a better rep for reliability than bd01s, now if only i could find some ft12s for less than full price.
I will look into the dynafit boots, and whatever else i can get reasonably priced.
how do atomic kalias ski I've seen some deals? the bindings will lose me a ton of weight so i dont want total weight weenie skis just something thats not a tank

I was skiing with a TAY'er yesterday in deep powder who had Kalias on. Now albeit he is a very very good skier. I couldn't ski in those conditions with those skis and need to cheat with wider skis and something with more girth. I personally like a 105mm width for a one ski volcano quiver which is my DPS Wailers 105 but they are carbon fibre doohickeys and very expensive but light.
The Dynafit Manaslus have extensive write ups on Wildsnow.com by Lou Dawson... a ski mountaineer par excellence.
Have a look at this review.

I'm a big fan of the Kailas, biker. At 88 (or 90?) they have the width to make the shmoo a little more manageable, but they're still pretty damn light. Mounted with Dynafits that'd be a really nice rig.
Heard good things about the Manaslu as well, but never skied them.

I'll second the Kailas as a spring ski. Skis good on corn, both cooked and over-cooked, pretty light. I can't say they've been a joy on frozen snow, but that's probably a matter of (lack of) tuning on my part.

Currently there's a 30% discount code at Backcountry.com for which the Dynafits qualify. These rarely go on sale. Code is 52G-1-ETBLR
