Crystal is getting a gondola

I don't think this has been mentioned before.  Looks like Crystal is getting a gondola and a terrain park next year.  Apparently they signed the deal on the gondola yesterday (according to the dude who served me a burrito for lunch).

In other news, the conditions at Crystal on Saturday were spring-like and fun.

Guess that explains why they didn't step up to the plate for VertFest Crystal this year.   They'd rather raise rates than raise avalanche awareness  : 

Yes, one of the cashiers in the shop next to the expresso stand, told me that the building we we in was going to be demolished soon.  For the gondola.

So, why the gondola?  Seems like they would have to be running mountain bikes and restaurant folks up during the summer like at Whistler.  So are rich people who buy parking up front also going to buy gondola tickets? 

Well.. of course I mostly see Crystal on weekdays.  I suppose the weekend perspective would be totaly different.  On some weekends and holidays there is a terrific bulge of folks trying to get up the mountain.

I will take a ride for sure.

Rode Whistler's Peak to Peak gondola this last summer... that was fun.   Whistler had a full summer crowd, including bikers.

The gondola approval is on their web site, and I must admit that I don't mind them charging extra for primo parking spots as hopefully that will allow them to not raise ticket prices. I don't have a problem with a gondola either, and I hope that they charge extra $ to ride it for the same reason. I have yet to go inside of the Campbell Basin Lodge as I pack my own lunch. I think Crystal should use as many different ways to increase revenue as they can, outside of raising lift tickets. Hey, you don't have to use they're amenities. Go Ski!

My biggest concern is that they're demolishing the only place on the mountain that you can get real coffee.

Im pleased about the gondola. It finally means you will be able to have" sexy time" on the ride to the top.
Having " sexy time" in a gondola is a skiing tradition that will now be possible at Crystal.
