Toe height isn't adjustable - it's the movement forward or back of the AFD plate that allows for alpine or AT boots. As far the strip of paper is concerned - I have Barons (AFD set to Touring) with Methods and they release perfectly.

Andy, do you have any advice about setting the toe height on the dukes....

I haven't had any problems using either the DIN or touring soles. I adjust frequently, in fact, to use alpine boots as well.

won't get into the duke/dynafit/WHATEVER topic as its been beaten to death in tech talk on tgr over the past two-three weeks. Go there if you want insight onto which one to get.

I do use dukes and they are nice but man they get heavy on longer tours....but for sidecountry do just fine.

Mostly i came to tell people who dislike duke climbing bar height...apparently Marker is releasing a 1" longer bar to be for sale retail. From what i've heard it will be ~$40 though. I've seen people just get a small block of wood or something similar and attach it to the bar

Great thread, good info with none of the TGR backbiting. That said I'm on my second year with Dukes on Hippy Stinks ( think Seth Pistol ) I ski Seths as my alpine board and have adjusted the binders to work with my Scarpas, I honestly can not feel any difference between the Hippys/ w Dukes and Seths/ w Technicas or Scarps. The Dukes are not the lightest, but they are bombproof. I feel very comfortable with the 16 Din. I usually ski 9-10 and like the idea of headroom. Case in point I skied the Seths most of they day today then switched for a short tour up Silver Basin. I certainly am not a hardcore touring machine by any means but I firmly believe Marker scored a home run with these. I may be old but I'm still slow.

Oh, I'm 6'5", 210 lbs, ski fairly well but need more time in pow.

I'm 200 pounds without gear and frequently push over 250 with gear on tours.  The weight combined with sportful skiing is too much for many bindings.  I've broken a few non-essential pieces on my Dukes in 1.5 yrs of testing.  Since they're the most "bombproof" setup this side of a trekker, I'd definitely recommend them for someone your size, unless you're used to skiing gingerly with a DIN of 8 or less...

just my .02$ ...
