Trumpetsailor - Thanks for posting the link with photos.  Their 1st photo ('Paradise Glacier Basin') shows the lobe that crossed Stevens Ck; the 2nd ('The Boys and Tatoosh Range') shows much of the debris field and the south end of the crown fracture on the right.

Looks like the forecast has changed for Wed., so we may not be able to get closer photos.

I have a picture of it, but I can't access my photo album from work, so I'll post the link tonight when i get home. I spyed it from above on saturday and saw a debris runout. We were thinking of trying to find a safe way down through there to get to Mazama ridge but chose to backtrack below McClure rock and ski down from there. We looked back up the hill from lower and saw that massive cornice failure. Glad i didn't ski over that roll in a whiteout...

also number 27 in the reel. Sorry for so many silly Rainier pictures, the views were amazing and I hadn't been there in a while.

The slope looks less steep than I'd imagined -- like something an intermediate level BC skier might glide right into w/o thinking twice.

And the OP caught attitude for putting out an extra heads up? Un-f-ing-believable ....
