I watch this vid every time before I leave the house to go surfing - Segment 17 of 'Billabong Odyssey' - Mike Parson's in the final heat of the first ever tow-in competition at "Jaws" (Peahi).  The wave he tried right before this one pummeled him so good some people were fearing for his life...

fyi, the calm weather we have right now could produce some really stellar, mellow longboarding conditions for the middle of winter out on the coast tomorrow...4ft swell at 12 seconds in the forecast. bring a hoodie and some gloves (and a fat wetsuit) and the water/air temps shouldn't be too bad! I'll be out at westport tomorrow.

I might be there Saturday...9 ft at 16 sec. from the W with 4-8mph winds from the SE...Groins for sure.

More surf stoke....Shi-Shi makes for a nice getaway.
