I'd bring a weber if I had one.Are webers allowed up there or does it have to be propane fired?
Sometimes it's better to say you're sorry that it is to ask.
I suspect if we asked, they would be forced to tell us that cooking is only allowed in approved campgrounds or picnic areas. Nonetheless if we're just warming up a couple of dogs on any type of portable grill and we're not building fire rings and wood fires in the parking lot and we pick up after ourselves we've never had any problems in the past.
I think the key is to just don't cause them any grief or extra work and they pretty much leave us alone.

For the care of the wilderness
The following items or activities are prohibited on the trails and in the backcountry of Mount Rainier National Park:
fire (stoves ok)
pets (except on the Pacific Crest Trail - must be leashed)
bicycles
all weapons (including bow/arrows, slingshot, etc.)
destroying or disturbing any natural, cultural, or archeological feature
feeding, disturbing, or hunting wildlife
short cutting on any trail
polluting or contaminating any water source (with soap, waste, etc.)
disposing of human waste within 100 feet of water or within sight of a trail
camping within 100 feet of water except in a designated campsite.
ALSO
All trash must be packed out (Do not burn, bury, or throw into pit toilets).
Anyone camping in the backcountry must obtain a backcountry permit or climbing permit.
Camp only at the site indicated on your permit for that particular night.
Party size limitations and backcountry regulations are enforced.
Calling a weber a "stove" isn't a huge stretch -- and I think if you pack in your own charcoal and pack out the ashes there should be no complaint.
However I would think a propane powered grill with some water soaked mequite chips thown in might do the job with less complications.

I'll be thinking of you all as we celebrate my mom's birthday with her octogenarian friends, wow what a great group of "young" eldersThe MadDog usually brings her BBQ, but she's out this year with a greater cause, i.e. making sure her sweet, dynamic, elderly Mom, who she adores, has a memorable birthday.
.Ron, I'll talk to you and give you the secret on the hw'sMaybe I can get the secret code on where to get the famous "homewreckers" that MadDog usually brings to the cookouts and add those to the mix too.

Recalling last yearl, I think I may have enough time to ride my bike up if someone is willing to schlep my gear to the trail head and give me a ride back to T-town? Heck, if you want to hike my skis in too, I'd be game for that . . .
Either way, I'll be there.
