OK, I know I'm at risk of being called on to "scout", and even so, my summer calendar keeps getting more and more crowded. I hope I don't have to cancel my niece's wedding (or something more important) in order to go this year. I'm reaching for some kind of clue...

or better...

Could we schedule it for any Tuesday after 9AM?

What do the wise ones think about it this year? Late July? Late August? Early 2009?

I'm thinking that the lack of rapid response to your question may indicate a shortage of folks here that consider themselves fitting into that category  ;)

... I'm reaching for some kind of clue...

We took a look at the Pinnacle Gl a month or so ago ago when we skied Foss Pk.  Then it didn't look like it was even starting to soften yet.  I went back and checked my tour files and the latest we've done it so far was 8/20, that was the 4th annual in 2006.  Earliest was 2005 3rd annual, 7/10.  The 2003, 1st annual (consisting of Jerry, Randy and myself) was done on 7/26.
Here's the now world famous shot of Randy beating Jerry to the goods on that historic event:

And one of Jerry drenching his own family jewels with ice water in retribution shortly thereafter:

Since then the Hummels and others have taken the Slush Cup pond skimming to new heights.

Ahh... but I digress.
Here's a couple of shots of said venue taken today from the north ridge of "Back of Beyond Bowl" over on Mazama Ridge:

As you can see there is still quite a bit of snow up there.  In fact more than there has ever been when we've done prior Slush Cups.  The only one that I know of that can see the pond forming by looking across from the Paradise/Muir side is snoslut.  The rest of us need to be on the Tatoosh side to see the tarn forming.
I'll proly go up and check it out in the next couple of weeks, unless someone can get snoslut to do his magic for us.
Right now if I had to guess I'd say late August/Early Sept. for this, the 6th annual (unless, of course, we start seeing new snow before the tarn melts out  ::)

...Could we schedule it for any Tuesday after 9AM?

Sundays have always been the day in the past.  In checking the schedule tho, I see that most Tuesdays are also open for the venue, on into the winter.  It seems to be more fun, however, when you schedule it when there can be lots of folks there to laugh at you when you dunk yourself.  Some have discovered it is also a bit safer.
It would, however, be nice if we could manage a sunny day -- we get some miserably cold folks from those dunkings when the event falls on cold an rainy days.

Ron, I wish I could go up with you this weekend - busy with a family wedding Sat, and going to the Mountaineer's play on Sunday. Let us know how it looks!
